Our new "mini" Freelander 2

During our time with the Freelander 2, Alana and I have often asked the question, "if we were to get another car to go alongside the Freelander 2, what would it be?" Well recently, we answered that question...

We have got ourselves a Skoda Yeti 4x4!

For those of you that don't know, underneath the car it's basically a Freelander 2 with it's Angle Drive to switch the drive 90 degrees and a Haldex at the rear. We are hoping to do similar to what we have done with the Freelander 2 and add a few bits of protection, some steel wheels with all terrain tyres on and do a bit of light off-roading with it Smile .

Anyone else owned a Yeti in the past? If so, what were your thoughts? Everyone so far has left nothing but glowing praise for them Very Happy . https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4

I also have a friend who had one for 3 years.
He thought it was brilliant. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

A very capable car is the Yeti,
indeed we had a new member (SE4X4Response) joint the group on our "
BORDA" training/assesment day several years back,
her first offroad driving experiance and a relatively new car,
the driver and car proved itself exceptionly well around the course,
For me I find the Yeti is a little harsh on the road. DAVE.

We are looking forward to testing ours off-road, once what we see as the necessary bits get applied to the car Very Happy . I do have to agree with you Dave that you feel alot more of the lumps and bumps through the car and it does feel stiffer compared to the FL2. Although it feels positively heavenly compared to the 2004 Mini Cooper S that we have recently sold Laughing . https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4

They are a great car. My dad had 2 and my brother had one, all 4x4s. No issues whatsoever with them. They have now moved on to a Kodiaq and a Karoq, 4x4 DSG autos.
Quite like them. My current plan when time comes to replace the trusty Freelander is veering towards a Superb 4x4 estate. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

My dad had an older 2 wheel drive superb and it was VERY nice to drive and was very highly kitted out on the inside too! I cannot imagine how good the 4x4 version would be! Smile I've grown up with Skodas as my dad loved the brand. My first memory was a rear engined rapid. I think there was a Skoda Favourite and also a couple of Felica's. I think before I left home he had an Octavia estate followed by the Superb. Very Happy

So I always have a weakness built into me to always go back to the Skoda brand. Well technically I haven't as I own the Freelander 2 and Alana owns the Yeti, but that's just details... Laughing https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4
