Had to deploy the sun visor on my way home from work yesterday and noticed this...

Having not disassembled the sun-visors before, how does it all come apart?

Is there an inner tube? If there is, did the tube just slide on, or was it a case of cutting a slit in the side and popping it on like that? Or was it a case of cutting it out completely and attaching the hose in place with some glue?

Depending on how it attaches, this is exactly the kind of thing that 3D printers excel at - small, plastic, parts that need a quick replacement rather than binning the whole broken item off.

Both mine have the plastic sleeve broken. I haven't got around to repair them but was thinking to strip the outer covering from some electrical cable, slit it and clip it over the visor pivot shaft. May need a spot of glue. 11 GS Bali Blue

Aren't they just a soft sleeve from the factory and you remove them after a while ? never really looked but will later now.

They were part of the complete moulding originally I think and underneath is a metal rod.

They had gone a bit sticky and I was able to peel them off easily enough. They came away from the main visor part, although looked like they were part of the whole originally...

I reformed them as best I could and cut my bits of silicon hose the same length and then slit them along the length to get them on.

Visor works well enough when just hinging it down, but not tried popping out of the hinge to see if the new part stays on well enough.

I don't think trying to glue the silicon hose on would not be overly successful...

Checked mine out and one seems to be going a little dark, as though it's mould marks but it's not.

I suppose that's the start of them softening up ready to crumple.

My14 both are doing fine.

Not much to worry about yet but will look out for a good fix.
