I've recently swapped the mk1 FL2 headlights for the mk3 - both halogen units. The newer set taken from a 2013 car - no signiture strip, just the led-spots.

I've noticed that the spots have a flicker in them, despite using the powefuluk loom to swap the old mk1 connections to the newer lights.

Bit dissapointing as the 'upgrade' has been pretty expensive and it's not exactly money I'll see back should I sell the car.

Has anyone else experienced this and been able to rectify?

Do you mean the DRLs are flickering? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

What made you decide to upgrade to the mk3 lights? Any noticeable improvements besides the flickering?

I'd imagine you've got them for the built in drl's?
Certainly not for better performance because you've made a backward step in that department. The single HB3 bulbs give very poor light output and fail regularly.

If you have any issues with the PowerfulUK DRL/Spot lights, just contact them directly. They are quick to respond and will gladly help to resolve any issues. I had one of my DRL/Spots fail on me after about 9 months and they sent a replacement without any problem. -------------------------------------------------------------

@nodge68, yes - you’re correct I mean the drls, not the sidelights which of course don’t exist in the mk3 lights.

The reason I upgraded was simply to complete the facelift. I’d kept the original for a while because of the poor performance reported in the mk3 halogen lights (yes, I can confirm they are significantly worse than the mk1s).

I’m running some questionably legal philips ultinon pros and they’re pretty terrible but are better than standard hb3s. I’m hesitant to do any further fiddling until I get to the bottom of the flickering drls.

@mel - I think the flickering issue in that video relates to changing from halogen to xenon in which you need the IID tool to change the setting on the car and didn’t relate to the drls. Happy to be proven wrong though!

Has anyone heard of the reported ‘Scandinavian mode’ which turns the sidelights on with the ignition? This would also make them run more like proper drls if there is such a configurable mode.
