Plastic clips

Why are cars and everything all plastic clips to get at anything, and you never know how they come undone. Down lighters and smoke alarms in the house are the same, it’s no wonder smoke alarms are left down. They are probably broken from trying to get them undone. Yes I have broken both of them trying to undo them with out success.😁

That’s so you can buy a new item when the plastic clips fail as they inevitably will. Don’t you realise that the whole of the world economy is based on people buying things? How is anyone expected to make any money if you can just undo a screw to change the battery or effect a repair? Twisted Evil

I’ve often thought the man who designed the spring clips on down lighters must have had a previous career with a rat trap manufacturer, getting one out of a kitchen ceiling that’s been double boarded for fire resistance never happens without chopped fingers ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Manufactures make things to go together, not come apart.
Also reduces build time on production line

The New Defender has an aluminium chassis and some fixings are 'fired-in' with a gun,
like a steel beam in the construction industry. when these fixings go wrong, there is no repair and the vehicle is a write-off !! so I am told by someone in the industry.

Nobody makes anything to last or be repairable because that won’t make them any money in the future! Car manufacturers are not in business to make cars. They are in business to make money and cars are just incidental. The moment they stop making money on a car model either the price goes up or the model is discontinued.

I can have the ceiling down & back up in 30 minutes. Sounds like they may only be working 6 to 12 minutes per hour to me. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I reckon that’s how they will get everyone to buy electric cars. They will make it to expensive or awkward to fix so it’s cheaper to dump it or set light to it then get it fixed.
