Will this fail the MOT ?

Hi,
Wil this fail the MOT, it is the front of the rear wheel arch on the drivers side.

If it's considered structural, or within a prescribed area, then yes. However, it doesn't look too dramatic from the picture.
Personally, I'd have a go with a file and neaten it up , then paint the exposed metal to prevent further rust - if the MOT is imminent.
Realistically, it would need welding.

Depends how far it is from the seat belt anchorage point? worth getting it welded regardless, looks like its just the lip of the wheel arch where the trim has let water in. I have seen worse corrosion on a Defender rear cross member and still passed MOT ! 2013 FL2 XS.

Mine has gone exactly the same. however mine has gone right down to the sill under the sill cover.
Im ordering a new repair panel and cutting out the rot and making sure ive got plenty of galvanised paint Lano Guard on the back of the repair piece when i graft it in

This is the repair panel im getting although i hope i dont need to use all of it as i dont like those crinkled edges that go inside the door area, i can imagine that would be difficult to try and smooth out

The guy who does the mot might have an interest in failing it if he gets to repair it? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I'd just put it in for the MOT, and fix it if it fails. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.

Took it to MOT station spoke to the examiner he said it was advisory. Also found a guy who is local and has done quite a few of these and he is charging £200 for the repair, booked in for Thursday.

Hi Mel.
Hope it all goes well, see if they will take any photos for you, some places will, others don't have the time.
