Hi, I'm in the process of finding out if sd4 and the td4 take the same belt and how much hassle it is to change. Just list it on ebay I'm not sure how long it'll be till I find out from my mate

The cambelt kits are identical.

I did mine 2 years ago.

"hassle" is very subjective.

I paid £158 for Cambelt/Idler & Tension pulleys/Waterpump/crankshaft bolt/FEAD belt & coolant (SA Cooltech 53) Jules

Hi guys, I'm still getting to grips with these freelander 2, so td and sd are identical parts for the timing belts. What else would I need? other than coolant (would it be pink oat like a td5?)

Bogart, did you list on ebay yet. Have you got a item number pls?

IMO You need to replace cambelt tensioner and cambelt idle pulleys, new crank bolt and waterpump as well as the cambelt.

You need a timing kit.
The thin long pin is to set the flywheel and the thicker pin for the camshaft (which turns half crank speed, so initially the crank maybe a whole turn out before the camshaft pin engages. Once both timing pins are in place the crank needs to be locked in place but using the locking device on the starter motor teeth ring. So the starter motor needs to come off. This allows a lot of torque to be applied to the crank bolt without bending the flywheel timing pin.

As the FEAD belt needs to come off to do the cambelt you should consider changing the FEAD belt and its idler and tensioner pulleys too.

I used https://www.smithandallan.com/product/smit...e-oat-4041 Jules
