I got them from a Jaguar ebay seller. I was surprised to see that the genuine box contains NGK, although I suppose I shouldn't be, as LR don't make the plugs. The glow plug relay should be in the BJB. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone. Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver. 1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project. |

Hi John. Thank you for your reply, this is what i have found out so far about the glow plugs, before taking half the engine apart to fit some new ones. NGK glow plug - 4966 (LR001302) Engine No 224DT. To Chassis No AH999999 Voltage (V) 11 Brand NGK. Resistance Ohm 1.0 Overall Length mm 99.0 Fitting Depth mm 28.0 Thread size M8x1.0 spanner/ socket deep 8mm Port Type PIN https://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/catalogues...2007/8526/ As opposed to MY14. https://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/catalogues...2014/9811/ Think I will do the fuel filter at the same time, see half the top of engine needs removing to fit these glow plugs ![]() F4 R4 Hopefully find time to day to do a quick check |

It is possible to do the glow plugs with the inlet manifold in place, but they're awkward to get at. They're not tight though, basically just a bit tighter than screwdriver tight, which is all they need to be as the sealing joint is a thin taper. I saw one YouTuber using copper slip and a torque wrench to tighten them to 10Nm. This is an absolute no no, as the grease will allow for a much higher torque than the plug body is designed, and grease will likely dry out in use, bonding the plug in place.

HI John. Thank you for that great bit of info so now i will have a look at trying to do them without removing the top. I will save that when i do the belts later this month or early September, MOT due in 3 weeks. |

Yes long reach 8mm socket will be needed, even then it would be hard to access the glow plugs, with the manifold in place. ![]() Even with the fuel filter and throttle body out of the way also difficult. Photo from 2020 when i change the manifold. ![]() With the manifold out of the way access is excellent, but a lot of work so fuel filter will done at the same time, i also intend to change the air flutes, for the later type no flute. ![]() ![]() I have a spare glow plug loom as well just in case. ![]() I noted that the loom is a Peugeot. ![]() Hopefully this weekend will see them replaced, I will also check the infamous little blue wire. ![]() |
