Should you go off road then the removable tow ball gives you back the rear ground clearence LR designed in.

Good point!

I keep the detachable ball, in the boot

Primarily to keep the ball clean (even if covered), so as not to contaminate any pads in the caravan hitch
Plus, the ‘walk in to’ factor

I'll grease it before/decontaminating after using my trailer
Mine is the gooseneck, l wasn’t too bothered about a fixed, or detachable, when l bought the Kodiaq, but only removables were available

I'd appreciate recommendations for a brand of detachable tow bar. A couple of web sites say these are not not available for my 2010/11 FL2.

I only want to use it a few times each year for carrying my eBike and wonder if I'll still be able to use the parking sensors. Freelander 2 2010 [MY2011] FA 2.2 TD4 XS

I have a Witter R41AU/R41AQ detachable towbar.

It was easy to fit and I have transferred it over to all my subsequent FL2s.

Each one needed a different wiring loom kit though.

My current one; upon connecting the trailer or light board automatically disables the rear parking sensors whilst reversing. Jules

Thanks Jules. I see PF Jones sell this kit and I've read all I can on their site (very good). Freelander 2 2010 [MY2011] FA 2.2 TD4 XS

The Witter system does not require the bumper to be removed but you need to remove the NS bumper reflector (flat blade screwdriver to lever it out) and drill two 20mm holes to give access to a long 13mm long socket for the two M8 nuts at bracket (B)

Thanks very much. I've downloaded the PDF and now I'm researching electrics (I have no experience at all of car wiring and am colour-blind). If the tricky electrics are the same as in this vid I'll have to bale and pay someone else.

(the bar fitting is for a similar set up but needs a bumper cut).

The Thule EasyFold XT 2 I'm expecting to get comes with a 13 pin socket. Do you know if your option of auto disabling the rear sensors during reversing is available on a 7 pin? If so I could save money by using a 13-7 adaptor. Freelander 2 2010 [MY2011] FA 2.2 TD4 XS

Both land rovers I’ve owned have had 13 pin sockets on their towbars. I can confirm that a 13 to 7 pin adapter disables the rear parking sensors, or at least they did when I plugged my 7 pin light bar in.
