Any fan after run on i6?

Hello all,

Just came home from a camping trip with the Freelander 2, which worked really well, despite the i6 being the slowest of our cars, it's just so comfortable, roomy and fast enough, when driving long distances.
But, I do have a question: I have noticed that there seem to be no after ignition off, fan after run on the car. Is there any, and mine is non-working, or just strange parameters? Or arn't there any, which seems odd.

Please tell me how yours are working.

Kind regards,
Redfox.

I don't remember my I6 fan running on after engine shutdown, and my TD4 doesn't run on either. I guess it's normal. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

My fan will if the gearbox oil is hot enough on the TD4. But that's after 18km stretch up a mountain road towing a heavy trailer. Usual driving on same road it won't. Next time I'll keep an eye on temps to note the temp it turns off at.

Can't recall it ever staying on with the Si4. Have noticed the odd car parked where it happens, but not this time of year. Have to wait untill summer to double check. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

My i6 dual fan (a proactive replacement) nor the original single fan run after the vehicle is shut off.

Thanks gents.

I am a little puzzled that there is no such provision. It's a fairly powerful engine and it's hot under that bonnet, and there is plenty of parts becoming hot. Anyway, engine is running fine.
But even on my former 1983 Gold2, one of the first ever made, there was an after run system, with the fan cooling things down. Likewise on my Corrado G60 and my Lotus Esprit.

I'll hop over on Superswede and see if some wild Swedes did any mods in that direction, as plenty of Volvo cars used the same engine, albeit with slightly higher horsepower.

May I ask what the dual fan mod does?

Thank you for your replies.
Kind regards,
Redfox.

There's no real benefit of running the cooling fans after shutdown, unless there's an electric coolant pump to continue to circulate the coolant around the system.

Our Audi A5 has an electric coolant pump, and that does continue to run for several minutes after shutdown on a hot day, with the cooling fans coming on occasionally to take the heat out of the coolant.

A Freelander has a mechanical coolant pump, so no coolant will circulate once the engine isn't running, so there's little point in draining the battery down running fans for no reason. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I agree, but sometimes there's a system despite that build. For example on my Corrado G60, with it's hot kompressor, oil can carbonize and do damage, so there's a temp. regulated after run of the fan, it sucks out a LOT of hot air, and is also connected to a timer, 3 minutes. It runs a low to medium speed. Not full on. I've never experienced any drained battery on any car for this reason.
I'll leave it as it, I suppose. But it would be nice to know what MotionInc did.

Kind regards,
Redfox.

If you forum search for threads by @p_gill, I got the idea to replace my single fan with a Volvo dual fan model. It was significantly more reasonable than the LR dual which is not normally stocked.

I bought my LR2 with 150000 kms on the clock and without a complete service history. Since the fan controller is a known failure point, I just replaced the entire single fan shroud with the dual. I do ocassionally tow...

My SD4 often runs on in hot weather and sometimes after a long hard run.
Not for long- maybe a minute or so. It’s done it for the 6 years I’ve owned it
