2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Zermatt Silver

Front brake pipes

When changing my drivers' side flexible hose, I made the school boy error of twisting the steel brake pipe that runs to the brake control module. After some fun tracing this back through the bulkhead, I have ordered a replacement but can't help thinking this looks like trouble.

Has anyone had the misfortune of having too replace this and, if so, do you have any tips?

Part number is LR014379. 2C292A on the attached photo.

Yes, when changing the rubber brake hoses on my Freelander a Land Rover main dealer twisted one of the pipes.

The fix was not to replace the whole pipe.

Instead they cut off a few inches of the twisted pipe, flared the cut end (I presume), and used a brake line connector to splice in a new piece of pipe to the brake hose connection.

I can’t remember what they charged but it was far less than replacing the whole length which looks like a tricky job.

I did wonder if the LR main dealer should have charged at all when they twisted the pipe, but then those joints are notorious for seizing or even shearing off when changing rubber brake hoses so I paid up.

I twisted a pipe on mine and just cut it out and replaced the pipe old school style

I replaced the exact same pipe with a genuine one.
It comes pre-bent, with the correct fittings and spongy bits for support.
It wasnt difficult but there was a lot of stuff to remove to gain access to the space behind the secondary bulkhead (which I removed), so it took quite some time.

Make sure you dont let air get back up into the ABS block, otherwise you may need a computer/software to open internal valves and bleed the ABS unit. I capped off the broken pipe with some rubber tubing until I had acquired the replacement pipe. Jules

And I thought that I was the only one hamfisted enough to to damage that pipe.
After advice from Bob I just cut out and replaced the damaged part.
Difficult to get in with the flaring tool but doable. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
