Alternator not charging battery

Hi everyone I have a problem with my 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual, for some reason the alternator won't charge the battery, I will try and explain as much as I can without making it too long. To start my car was charging at about 14.4v (I have a gadget plugged into car socket witch reads volts) then after driving 15 minutes noticed gauge was reading 12.2v (engine still running ), stopped the engine and checked belt and battery terminals and all was ok, so started engine and it was reading 13.8v but soon dropped down to 12.2v again and no warning lights on dash. My thoughts was alternator so have just fitted a new one but problem is still there, I looked at the Blue wire when I changed the alternator and it seemed ok, also car had new battery last month, any suggestion would be appreciated and thank you.

Update, just thought I would update this problem which appears not to be a problem, what I was experiencing turns out to be the smart charging system which hasn't operated like this in the 11 years of ownership, I changed my battery six years ago and when I fitted it I didn't get the battery monitor system reset but the start stop feature started working again, but this time when I fitted a new battery I had it plugged into a diagnostic machine so ran the reset bms feature although this was two weeks before I thought that the alternator wasn't charging properly, don't know if reseting the bms via diagnostic machine also affects the smart charging system but it's working as it should now.
