Replacing ignition dock

Apologies if this has been asked and answered already, but I couldn't find a thread, but I think that's my fault!!!

I need to change the dock for the key fob and wondered if anyone could advise if there is a home diagnostic tool/software that can reprogram a brand new dock, or is this a main dealer only job?

Thanks

why would you need to replace the dock?
if the key is getting stuck, but the IC board is ok, you can get a used dock and just swap the board.
