United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
FL2 not accelerating

Hi all,

Having a few issues with my 2013 FL2 2.2 HSE Auto mainly around acceleration from a standstill.

Have had an intermittent issue with the car jumping when stood in traffic… when you attempt to move off it jumps forward. Both main dealer and independent unable to identify what’s causing it. No fault codes. Haldex unit serviced, gearbox checked. No issues accelerating at this point, just jumps forward.

Had an unfortunate need to get a new engine in May after timing belt fell off (I kid you not, fell off and was still within the casing). Got a replacement engine from a 2014 model with 86k miles. Fully serviced before fitting with my independent land rover specialist.

Since then car has seemed slow intermittently when accelerating from a stand still. Will move slowly at about 6mph and your foot is to the floor, before kicking in usually within a couple of seconds. However in the last 24 hours has got more prolonged before kicking in and have had one incident where I’ve had to turn off car and start again, which solved things. With excellent timing we have just driven to France for a holiday!

Was in at independent LR specialist last week for new brake callipers and asked for both issues to be checked. Throwing up no fault codes and can’t find anything wrong when they’ve looked into it. Typically didn’t do it when it was there!

Has anyone experienced similar? Having just spent a fortune on the engine and with limited French for technical engine discussion I thought I’d see if there were any ideas. I’m wondering fuel filter for acceleration which should have been changed at service when new engine was put in, but also assuming catastrophic repairs will be needed as I really don’t have much luck recently with this car… auto gearbox going?!

I would think that fault must be engine related as that was what was changed.

We have just been discussing a similar post ---

Thanks that’s really helpful. I must have missed it when searching.

They did update the software when in last week but seems to have made it worse if anything. Hoping she’ll survive this holiday…
