Intermittent engine fault

Hi all.
My 2014 SD4 developed a fault last week the day before going on holiday so only had time to take to a garage for a quick check. Fault is that when driving away from standstill there is a 2-3 second delay before the rev counter starts to move slowly and then car pulls away very slowly. Performance is poor with reduced power but no misfires. This does not happen when the engine is cold and if I leave the car for an hour it is fine again but the fault will return. The following has been checked within the short timescale available - Blocked off the egr (then unblocked) and checked it wasn’t open, checked the throttle flap isn’t shut, checked Intercooler pipes. On the diagnostic the fuel pressure sensor was showing excessive pressure but there were no fault codes and no reduced performance indicators on the dash.
The day after the checks I drove for 2 hours down the M5 car was perfect. Drove off from services car was perfect. Got off the M5 into a built up area and fault returned. During our week away the intermittent fault remained. Coming back home I got onto the M5 and the first incline I had to manually select 3rd keep to stay at 40mph. The next incline it flew up at 60 no problem (towing a trailer tent so limited to 60). The remainder of the journey the fault was the there but as long as I have momentum it's just drivable even if I drop down to 3 mph then accelerate it does pick up speed quicker than from a standing start albeit very slowly.
It's going into the garage on Wednesday but if anyone has any suggestions on what might be causing this I would be extremely grateful, thank you.

Something wrong with the turbo or EGR valve maybe ? But its odd youre getting no fault codes.

How many miles has it done and what service history has it had ?

Please let us know what the garage thinks is the cause. Jules

To me the symptom are very like experienced in 'Limp Home' mode.
But then you get a Restricted Performance message on the dash panel.

When I got similar symptoms I had ODB Errors showing for Turbo Problems.

The Dealer cured it by carrying out some sort of (exercising?) procedure.

it needs to be scanned with a diagnostic tool this should tell you where the fault is and where to begin

He may have done it with a cheap code reader a good diagnostic like SDD will record history of problems and faults even if codes are not present
