Black Circles put wrong tyres on my car !!

The FL2 tyre spec for my vehicle is 235/55/R19 V 105

Is a load rating of 101 acceptable ?
Would it affect an insurance claim.

I ask because Black Circles have sent the wrong tyres to the tyre fitter and now have tyres on the car which are not what I ordered.

I will be ringing both Black Circles and Mr Tyre tomorrow. Jules

If they fitted different ones to what you orderd I would get them to put on what you did order, Insurance firms can get funny about non standard tyres, I always fit what it says in the owners handbook to be on the safe side if a claim was ever made, no arguments then. 2013 FL2 XS.

I agree entirely. I shall be requesting the correct new tyres to be fitted.

I just wondered if Black Circles would try and fob me off by saying 101 will be fine.

Tomorrow will be another few hours wasted on the phone, no doubt.

So far I cannot recommend Black Circles at all.
I had to ring the fitter myself as BC said they couldnt get through to confirm the booking- I think it was because the BC person wasnt prepared to wait in a queue on the Mr Tyre answer phone. I got through after a few mins of waiting. Jules

Very frustrating, hopefully they'll resolve it quickly. They are a big concern with a reputation to maintain. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Because of the blame problem you’re having, I would never buy tyres from one supplier and have fitted by another.

I saved a lot of dosh by joining up to Halfords Motoring Club and fitted four tyres with a few different discounts cheaper than BC or anywhere for that matter.

However I used a different company to check the tracking afterwards

BTW I too had the wrong tyres fitted many years ago by an established company

In the past Ive bought the tyres myself on-line and had them delivered to me. Then took them to a local tyre fitter whom Ive used for years. But sadly he's packed it in now. Jules

Sounds just like having supermarket shopping delivered, where they put in their choice of alternative if you want it or not. Good luck.

Outback Australia you have to sort it out yourself, otherwise it is fly in a new tyre... & fly in a mechanic, if you don't have tyre leavers, a bit of spare petrol & cigarette lighter or Redhead Matches!

Why most carry two spares, tyre repair kit & multiple compressors for redundancy (I have 3 compressors).

Ironically I have jump started & plugged more tyres in local our street... Reminds me, need to get my primary welding cables from my Sister, her husband's Holden has died again! Secondary jumper cables are ok, but a bit short for challenging positions! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

If you specified one type of tyre and the delivered the wrong one they have to change them. Common sense isn't very common.

I think Ive got it sorted now - spent about 3 hours on the phone yesterday in total.

All became a bit Kafka-like. Felt like I was going round in circles - Black Circles Laughing

Black Circles (BC) requested pics of the wrong tyres, which I duly sent.
The promised response never came.

Rang BC back. BC now needed further confirmation from the fitter, Mr Tyre (MT).

Rang BC back 2 hours later. BC still awaiting conformation from MT.

Rang BC back another 2 hours later. No confirmation from MT because BC agents were unable to make contact with MT.

I rang MT (5-10 min wait on the answering service). MT had received no phone call from BC. I asked the MT chap to ring BC but they couldn't/wouldn't do that.

Rang BC back. Eventually persuaded BC ("had to be escalated to a supervisor") to book the new tyres in for Saturday without getting verbal confirmation from BT, using their on-line booking system. They could have done this at the beginning of the day !

The underlying problem is that the BC agents dont seem to wait long enough for the MT answering system to connect them through to a person.

Other irritations being :
- having to go through the security questions each time you ring
- and of course explain everything to a different agent - based in another continent by the sound of things.
- and I'm sick of being asked "How are you doing today" Jules

I've use BC twice, but never again. The first time was ok, fitted the tyres I ordered. The second time, the correct tyres were sent, but the fitting slot hadn't been booked with the fitter, so when I got there they couldn't fit them. They said I have to have BC book another slot, which I did, but it was 4 days later.
Eventually the tyres were fitted, but all the messing around just wasn't worth the small savings. So now I use National Tyres, which often have deals to make the tyre prices very similar to BC, and the timed booking is done at the time of ordering. I normally chose my local Halfords for the fitting location, as it's just easier than driving into Truro for the National Tyres there. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Will be interesting to see how this one goes - the tyres will not be in "resellable" condition because they have been fitted to the vehicle and driven. I have just experienced this with brake discs and pads that were sent and did not fit, despite the site saying they would fit. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

I feel that Call Centres employ people whose main task seems to be to 'Put You at Ease', and then pass you on without taking ownership of the problem.

There never seems to be any declared 'Escalation Path' to a person of authority (Manager?) who has the knowledge and powers to solve the problem.

In my recent LR Extended Warranty case I so much confusion and delay occurred that I decided to escalate it myself and got the JLR CEO involved by emailing him. This led to a Head Office Staff member being appointed to OWN my problem and do the running around. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

You certainly have to be tenacious and its very time consuming. I would have not been able to do all this sorting out if I was still at work.

My wife had an issue with Lufthansa last year. Took countless emails and phone calls but after 4 months she got her money back (several hundred quid) that was rightly hers. Jules
