Ok. Some grinding from the rear under braking. Bought new pads, got the wheel off after a horrific battle with rounded nuts.

I hadn’t considered that mode being put on before I started. I had planned on removing the EPB servo and manually screwing it back as I had read and watched online. As I couldn’t remove the servo due to the bolts I looked up the service mode method but it said nothing about the caliper still being in place before starting. There was no need to remove the motor

Yup, that was what I was worried about. What I don’t understand is when I put it into service mode, the piston extended and burst the boot, rather than the internals screwing back to allow the piston to be pushed back.

Unfortunately the free JLR manual only goes to 2012 and doesnt cover the EPB.

And that’s the kicker - I got the info for putting the EPB into service mode

If it's done before starting work it can't extend the piston. Doing it removed from the car has caused the issue. ☹️ Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Or you may have accidentally done the sequence for turning it back on (out of service mode)? |
