New Rear Disk

Well after doing the rear wheel bearing last week and noticing bad scoring on the brake disk I decided to change both disk and pads took about an hour and a half and apart from adjusting the handbrake through the small hole it was a piece of cake Thumbs Up

adjusting the handbrake on these is a pig to do...

i replaced my handbrake cables, handbrake shoes and rear brake pads at the weekend.

handbrake still goes 'eeek eeek eeek' when i drive slow, if i loosen it off any more at the wheel i may as well not have any handbrake shoes attached lol..

I've always hated this type of handbrake set up on any car
Worked on a friend's Hyundai and it was a bitch to set properly.
Thankfully the later Freelander with the electric handbrake reverted to using the rear pads rather than a built in drum and shoes. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The One comment I will make is that the pair of shoes are connected by Two springs. I believe One is stronger than the other from memory. On One side, One of the springs should be behind the shoes, and the One on the other side, in front of the shoes. I could not get the One behind into both the holes. I ended up fitting it on the front of the shoes. At least I ended up with a handbrake that worked, and passed the MOT.
I plan on putting on new rear discs before the winter, so I will try and take some photos to show what I mean. Its been 8 months, and I seem to have no adverse effects. The handbrake still works.
