Hi John. Going electric on us think I'm going to let one of mine go later this year, the Tambora to have a van seeing that my daughter is calling on me to more work at their home in Wales, and also need a van for the evermore trips to the tip with garden stuff. |

Yes. We're going all modern. We pick up one like this next Thursday morning.
I got a lot of rude abuse on the EV thread on other LR forum, so I've stopped posting there. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone. To be fair, this one is on a lease. I couldn't afford a near £50k vehicle outright.

I get what you’re saying but will wait and see. Also it’s not just the price of the electric, will Fred in the shed work on them and fix them. It’s hard enough with a relatively normal car like a freelander to get it fixed. These are the sort of things normal people will be considering before they buy something. |

There's a growing community for EV owners to get help and advice much like there is for any other vehicle.

All what you have said may be true, but normal people will vote with their wallet. If it’s cheaper than they will buy it , but if Fred in the shed will not work on it and they are forced to pay higher garage costs it will be a no. Money is the only thing normal people will be interested in. |

My freelander is still off the road from the beginning of April so I wouldn’t have much faith in getting an electric one fixed. |

I'll still be posting on here Arctic, offering help if I can. LRs have a wonderful community, even if the vehicles themselves don't always play ball. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I get what you are saying, but on the whole an EV is much less likely to go wrong than an ICE vehicle. Fun fact, the 2011 Nissan Leaf that Jeremy Clarkson said will need a new battery in 3 years when he road tested it as a new car is still on the road today. It's had 3 owners in that time, which includes Nissan as the first owner, and last time I read about it, it was still using the same battery, electronics, and brakes that it left the factory with some 12 years before. Oh and the BBC "fixed" the breakdown due to the flat battery, as the vehicle left the starting point with only 40% charge, and the navigation will have known that there wasn't enough range left to get to their destination, but none of this was broadcast by the BBC. It's almost as though they were paid to show EVs weren't a viable replacement for ICE vehicles, as even today people believe that EV batteries will need changing after a few years, which is of course absolute nonsense.
