The lack of oil for the torque converter will answer the lack of drive. The real question is what caused all the oil to exit the gearbox. A hole normally does it. Hopefully, ‘just’ a drain or filler bolt rather than a failure of the casing.

Morning, thanks. If it’s a hole am I looking a grand or more to fix as it’s a garage job not diy . It was a lot of oil everywhere. There seemed to be more all over the nearside wheel and brakes then the offside, the disc etc was covered on the nearside.

Has the pipe from the Auto box cooler come adrift or burst

As above.
Unless you've run over something really large and strong that has managed to damage the box casing, then it's unlikely to be damage to the gearbox casing.
It's far more likely to be an issue with an external component, like the cooler pipes.

It could even be something simple like the drain plug has come out, although they're normally very difficult to remove.
More investigation is needed, or it's all just speculation. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thanks, can not investigate yet as it is waiting to be brought home on a transporter. The recovery driver said it needs jet washing to actually see anything, I was just trying to 2nd guess what I am in for. I looked on Trent salvage and a gearbox is 5 to £700 I didn’t check out delivery costs, no idea of garage costs. I only commented on the way out with the caravan how well it tows and comfortable it was towing. I will keep quiet in future.😁

Common things occur commonly.

So its most likely to be one of pipes/hoses to the ATF cooler.

The drain and filler plugs are usually sods to undo so Its unlikely to be those.

The gearbox is well protected by the steel undertray so its unlikley to be a cracked gearboix casing.

But only an inspection will tell you. Jules

Thanks , when a non mechanical person sees that much oil we tend to think of the worst things. It was all down the side of the caravan, and sprayed up all around the wheel arch and brake etc.

7L of hot, runny ATF goes a long way. Jules

Only had one of those gearbox flushes done with the machine about 12 to 15000 miles ago so it will be well flushed now.

So, what did they connect the machine that does the flush to? That would be my first target!

I don’t know, it was done in a garage. Not where I normally go , just did the flushing but that would of been over 2 years ago now.

If it sprayed out, it's more likely to be from a small pressure line, like the cooler line. If the oil had dumped out from a large hole under gravity, it would be on the road as it spewed under the car, but probably not got much on the tin tent. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

You can’t beat a tin tent, Very Happy . If it had not been for the gearbox it would of been a cheap little holiday at a tenner a night
