Diesel fumes in the cabin

I have a FRLR model 09 TD 2.2. I noticed recently a heavy smell of diesel fumes in the cabin when I am driving for a while in an ascent and the engine is hot. The technician said it could originate from the EGR valve and If I want a temporary solution I could try changing the COVER - ENGINE COMPARTMENT and the INSULATOR - DASH PANEL. However, the cost of changing these parts is not negligible and I would like to hear opinions about the possible cause and suggested remedy for this problem.

We need to change the master. Your exhaust manifold mounting studs have broken and exhaust is coming out from under the manifold. The replacement procedure is very complicated. It’s easier to remove the engine and drill out the studs on the removed engine. 150hp 420nm up to 235hp 490nm

Take the engine cover off and look and smell for diesel leaks around the Injectors. If there is any that's the cause of the fumes

Most likely the tiny O rings on the Injector leak off pipes need to be replaced, may as well replace all four of them

Or could be one or more of the metal pipes from the Fuel Rail to the Injectors are leaking at the unions

Or could be one or more of the plastic leak off pipe connectors is either loose or faulty

My money is on the small O rings

Yeah, diesel leak under the engine cover would be my first port of call as well. Costs you all of a few minutes to check.

Not a FL but had similar with a citroen, could not find a problem with the injectors at first in day light but then looked in the dark with a torch and it immediately apparent one injectors was leaking round the seating. May just be me and my eyes, but may help you if it’s an injector leaking.
