As Nodge says the HP pump is driven by one of the camshafts via a small coupling which can break. If you've got Torgue Pro or similar which can give live common rail pressures, then if the pressure is very low during cranking then its pointing to a HP pump problem/coupling IMO. The normal fuel pressures are in the JLR manual However I'd have thought you'd get a low fuel pressure code; thats if there is one under these circumstances. Jules |

A bad cam sensor might not throw up a code. |

You should be able to pull up live data for the fuel rail while cranking it over. Live data is often more useful than codes in situations like this. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. That’s an interesting question! I have just checked and no the rev counter is dead when the engine is cranking over! Should I check the crank sensor wiring? Any advice on this? Cheers Voyager man

If the rev counter doesn't climb off its stop, it suggests there's no engine speed data available for the ECM to pass on to the Ipack. The plugs and wiring can give trouble, I had to replace my crank sensor plug as it wasn't making secure connection with the sensors. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Ok, good advice, something for me to check! I did think plug and loom is in a very exposed place. Do you know if there is a repair kit? Cheers Voyager man
