hello , we recently bought a 2017 freelander 2 with i6 engine, very nice car, but with very regularity the engine makes a squeaking and whistling noise, and quite extremely loud. turning aircon on and off has no effect, neither does the revs.

please help because it is really unbearable as much noise as it makes

A Video/Audio clip would be useful as it would give us a clue.

I take it that you are saying that it is still occurring when FL2 is stationary and stays the same as you vary the revs.

My money is on the PCV valve.

PCV usually could be a honking (like geese) sound. Start it and then remove the dip stick after 30 seconds.....any additional sound?

it is a sound like if a brake is running strongly, high squeak and it fails to reproduce and no partoon, can you drive without the pvc valve ? maybe that is worth trying then.
and how do you remove that valve?

You can't just remove the valve, it's integral to the valve cover. It's easy to replace though. But as was mentioned, that's a goose honking noise and easy to rule out by pulling out the dipstick to see if the honking stops.

The noise as described sounds more like something on the drive belt. Has the tensioner and idler pulley ever been replaced? Those don't last forever and if one of those pulleys is jamming intermittently it will break the belt soon.

Might try removing the belt, and trying to turn all pulleys by hand, to see if one is dragging.

New Catering Ventilation is most likely the Positive Crankcase Ventilation value or module.
