Azerbaijan 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Firenze Red
Intermittent power loss

Good afternoon all,
I am having problems with my freelander. When it is cold it drives normally but when it reaches normal running temperature it loses power, starts juddering and occasionally cuts out especially on a slope. I've been told it could be the torque converter solenoid. Is there a test procedure for the solenoid? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a number of things first thing comes to mind could be crankshaft sensor? camshaft sensor?
possibly fuel filter is it a genuine Landrover one? 2013 FL2 XS.
Defender 90 300 TDi.

Thanks for your comments. I recently changed the fuel filter with a landrover one. No faults came up for the crank or camshaft sensors.

OK but I dont think faults always come up for crank sensors as they are relatively cheap might be worth trying a new one? 2013 FL2 XS.

The crankshaft speed sensor can give issues and not show any codes. I've had 3 fail, and only 1 gave codes. If sensors fail quickly, it's the plug at fault, as it seems prone to pins pins spreading. I replaced my plug and fitted an OE (avoid cheap) sensors, and the problem hasn't returned in 10k miles. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I would change the fuel filter since you say it occurs when the temperature gets to normal perhaps the fuel filter internal valve is faulty. I assume the car ran fine prior to changing the fuel filter.

In my own experience a Torque Convert problem starts with shuddering similar to driving over rumble strips.
