Check battery voltage.

Try jump start, or battery booster,

or charging battery. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Thanks for the replies

I can try charging the battery later tonight and see what happens.

Just a little surprised if it would be as it was tested on the 27th August with 98.9% life and a good charge from the alternator. That said, I've not driven it since then..

Battery or starter.

What happens if you just switch on the power without pressing brake/clutch pedal?

It would also be helpful if you fill out your profile to show which model you have. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Did you double lock it (double press on the lock button of the fob)? Were you on the phone using Bluetooth when you locked the car? Single locking doesn’t necessarily shut everything down and the Bluetooth can stay up draining the battery.
I wouldn’t believe that 98.9% life reading. It’s a lead acid battery not a lithium battery in your phone!
How old is the battery. 4 years is the expected life span, any older and it is on borrowed time.

Car is a 2007 Freelander 2 HSE, 2.0 automatic diesel

Checked the Ampage and it was 11, so abit low. Have it on charge right now. Will give it a few hours and see if it kicks into life!

When "starting" without the break pedal depressed, the dashboard lights up as expected. Which made me question the battery being the issue.

@BossBob, tbh, cant remember, but thanks for the advice. The phone is not linked to the car Bluetooth, but there is an aftermarket one installed, so will ensure to double press in future. The 98.9% test came from a roadside mechanic who I'd called out to change the battery, but they said it was in good condition and shouldn't need to change it. 2007 Freelander 2

Here is a link to my full story about a failing battery that was 'tested' as good.

After trying to work around the problem, I found that a new battery did the trick.

BossBob is right, batteries only seem to last about 3 - 5 years, and will not be reliable in the FL2 even if they 'test' Good. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Ok, so a charge last night has resolved the issue. I think a new battery is on the cards!

I've noted the feedback about the double lock, are there any other common battery draining points of issue? 2007 Freelander 2

Check if it’s got the extra earth strap.

Failing batteries often have enough stored energy to activate many circuits seen on the dash but then cannot meet the demand for a huge current required by the starter motor.

My battery is over 4 years old - see how much the voltage drops during engine starting
