5 Star Service

Adam RRUK did a full test and refurbish on both of my dear lady’s FL2 key fobs today. All I can say is don’t go elsewhere, support forum member RRUK and you’ll receive a 100% professional result.

Thank You Adam Thumbs Up

I rather think you are missing something here… yes, anybody can change the case on the later key fobs of the type you have. Everybody here with the later type of key fob will know that too.

A Genuine Land Rover replacement case of that type (LR078921) is only £15-£18 to for those of us who prefer not to buy cheap and/or badly made far eastern knock-offs.

The service primarily offered here by RRUK is for the earlier key fobs (pictured below) with their permanently sealed case and soldered in batteries. The key fobs that have to be inserted into a 'key hole' in the dash board, both to operate the car and to recharge its soldered in battery…

… that battery, like all rechargeable batteries, fades and fails with age. The key fob then needs to be cut open, battery unsoldered and removed, new battery soldered in and case somehow restored and made whole again. Or you could just take the easier (and very popular option) of sending it off to RRUK for an as new key refurb.

Well said - having both my earlier type remote replaced by Adam, I can throughly recommend this service.

As I have neither the eyesight or minute dexterity to do this intricate work ( I work with freight trains, so am used to somewhat bigger stuff), I am glad there is someone on this forum that can offer this service, the feedback from members to the service speaks for itself.

From a very satisfied customer.

Cheers

OK was not aware of the soldered batteries, if you have never used a soldering iron I can see that being a big obstacle for some. My Bad!

But where do you think Landrover buy their replacement cases from? and all their electronic modules etc etc Whistle
Surely its not China Rolling with laughter

Thanks for all the positive feedback chaps.

If you look across Martin's different forums (RRSport, FullFatRR, Disco etc) I have hundreds of positive reports from people.

Yes, absolutely you can go ahead and try doing it yourself, I have no issues with this approach, just as long as you know the risk and the cost if it goes wrong.

In the meanwhile, if anyone wants their key doing, just send me a PM.

I've just done two for a guy in Switzerland , and he drove to my house! Very Happy

I've also done keys for people who work at JLR or contract to them (Can't mention names) and have only ever had good feedback Thumbs Up 1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

Just a reminder I still do these refurbs for the FL2.

The more of the FL2 cars I see, the more I like them. It's one of the few LRs I have never owned (have driven many).

Can only praise Adam. From initial contact to refurbished key 4 days including a weekend. Noone else can compete on price for a professional job, well done and thanks! Series 2A 1961, 1975-78, made to last forever.
Series 3 Lightweight, 1973, 1999 - 2012, still regret selling this car.
Freelander 1, 2005, 2005 - 2008, sold the minute its warranty expired.
Defender 90 200 TDi, 1985, 2012 - 2014, paid far too much for it.
Defender Wolf, 1998, 300 TDi, 2017 - 2019, too expensive to maintain and the Army hadn't.
Defender Puma, 2009, 2014 - 2014, not a sensible family car.
Freelander 2, 2012, current, is this the car to last?

Hello. I need my key for re-newed as it no longer opens or locks the doors or operates the alarm. It starts the engine ok but that's it. I tried replacing both keyfob batteries but I messed one up with solder iron but managed to do the other one. That battery didn't last very long tho. Rob
