After loads of issues with a strange squealing noise, changed throttle body, removed aux belt, all to no avail it's finally pinged up a code and a eml, it's P245a EGR coolant bank A, it will reset and, all is quiet then it pops up and the noise starts, looking into it, It seems a pig of a job to change, so anyone had it done at a garage and what was the cost? +

This Evoque had the same problem.
There is a couple of things to check, otherwise it looks like an expensive replacement job.

Rang my local village garage this morning; they MOT my cars and do the jobs I cant do.

They charge £50/hr labour and he says the labour for a EGR replacement on a FL2 would be around £400.

For comparison, he replaced a FL2 front wheel bearing last year , was £216 inc parts Jules

£400 % £50 ÷ 8 hours, which seems unreasonably long for a 3-4 hour job. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

It was an estimate over the phone. Not sure if theyve done one before but he said it wasnt an easy job but said he needed to see the car to be able to quote more accurately.

I guess its better to quote high and reduce on the day.

Confirmed cooler, EGR is fine, they reckon 4-5 hours labour plus price of cooker @ around £400, could have been worse, while I was in the garage a guy was having the bad news his engine oil has swarf in it, ££££££
