United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Alaska White

Vanny, I am going to do the camera instal this summer to my 2013 freelander2 hse. My question is, do you have to remove part of the wiring loom ? Or do you just add the wiring loom part that you have given the part number for?
And my 2nd question, where does the camera itself plug in and too what ?
Thanks in advance,

Steve.

Is anyone still monitoring this page ? I've ordered the camera, harness and new tailgate opening switch and fakra cable, but still not sure how it all connects together.

You will need to drop the headlining at the rear to plug in the new harness and connect up the washer tubing. A facra lead will then have to be run to the front console area to plug into the existing video in facra connection

Completed camera installation

Hi. I have been scouring this and other sites re retro fitting a camera. Your installation appears to be the most recent one. Do have any tips to offer? Thinking about sourcing camera etc.

Much appreciate it if you are able to reply.

Nigel

I did a full write-up a few years ago. I don't think there is any information over what is already posted here, but its all on one page at least.

Funny to read Iā€™m not the only one who is trying to install a reverse camera in a FL2 in the Sumer of 2023. I installed the camera in the license plate light holder and connected it to the reverse light. In order not to get wiring from the tail to the Center console I placed a wireless transmitter in the tail and find me struggling to connect the receiver in the Center console. I simply cannot figure out which cable is the one from the reverse gear switch to connect the receiver onto (I only want it powered when reverse gear is selected).

One possibility is connecting it to the wire from the passenger fuse box. Does anyone have experience with it? Which cable is the one from the reverse light? How does one reach the wires (at the back) of the fuse box? Any help is welcome, thanks in advance!

Since first publishing this article a long time ago, I've regularly recieved the same question, "where can I buy the camera link lead". My response has always been, "make sure you buy it with the camera, the cable can't be bought seperately". Well, today I write with fantastic news, I know how to buy the link lead!

I wrote some months back about replacing the boot switch on the Freelander. I cheaped out and bought what I thought was a bargain price replacement switch. However, the harness that arrived wasn't much of a bargain. At some point the wiring changed, and my tailgate switch only worked with the side lights (and registration lights) off!

This afternoon, I finally replaced the harness with the correct one for a post-13MY vehicle. I still cheaped out and bought the Brittpart one, although I've never had issues with Brittpart. Opening the box, and what is this surprise in front of me? I've only bloody gone and done it. A tailgate harness with the camera link lead included.

So, there you have it. Assuming you have a 13MY onwards Freelander, with Gen2.1 infotainment, and you want to retrofit the camera, then Brittpart is your friend! LR086310 is the part number i've just fitted, with the link lead included. Hopefully this will be of use to someone in the future.
