I had looked at new cars around 2011. The Freelander was the only one of all the cars in that size category that most importantly would fit in our garage, length width & height, also to be able to get in & out of it, & wasn't a piece of sh..!

The big window / low waistline / square and easily visible bonnet combination is what makes a LR for me 👍

Had Evoque's as courtesy cars in the past and as I'm 6 foot 3 I found lack of headroom restrictive in front and impossible in back, visibility quiet bad allround but particularly so through the rear window and worst of all I always banged my head getting in and out.

Quite fancy a 4x4 Superb estate. Like to hear your opinion on it if you have time to write a mini review? I have looked in vain for a replacement car for my Metro FL2, giving me the high comfortable driving position (and lately something with controls that do not require poking at a screen) and a good panoramic view. In a recent post on this site, I described my driving position, in the new cars I tried, as like sitting in a post-box and peering out at the world through the posting slot. It's not helped by the liking of the modern designers for black/dark interior roof linings. Also the camera/sensor equipment is gradually spreading out from rear-view mirror into the driver's and front seat passenger's windscreen view. The problem is that a RRS gets to be 7+ years old before it gets in my price range. That has a nice driving position and view. You’ll also need some money for all the ULEZ zones that are sprouting up. |

My other car is an L405 and the position and view is considerably better than even the RRS! Try one 😁 |

Well if the Superb estate is anything like our Octavia estate was then it will be very good indeed. The Octavia had massive carrying capacity and was a very reliable. The only reason that I sold it was I wanted an auto after a job change involved a lot of start-start cross-city driving and the VRS was manual only at the time. Jules |
