Have been in my Sister's Evoque a few times re recent issues (not car related) & had forgotten from previous times just how high the window sill line is.

I feel I'm just peaking over the edge of a very deep bathtub, with a bit of a lack of space feeling. Have been "ruined" for life with mountainous open panoramic views of the Freelander!



P.S. Also prefer my quieter petrol engine. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

My son has had 2 Evokes and not really got on with either of them.

I had looked at new cars around 2011. The Freelander was the only one of all the cars in that size category that most importantly would fit in our garage, length width & height, also to be able to get in & out of it, & wasn't a piece of sh..!

My long term planning: The most difficult part was convincing other half that a Tiguan would not suit our outback travel.

In 2014 replaced our 18 year old car (car before that also 18 years) with Freelander. In this period my Sister bought an Evoque. Her excuse was that it was the only car that would fit in her garage... BS, we have a smaller garage in every dimension.

It was the badge engineering on the front of the car that was the highest priority of technological advancement in her eyes!



To date keeping the car until I need a 4wd wheelchair... or two! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The big window / low waistline / square and easily visible bonnet combination is what makes a LR for me 👍

That’s 7 so far (Freelanders, Disco 4’s and one L405) which all fit the bill 👍

It’s getting very hard to find these characteristics in a LR/RR now though.

Had Evoque's as courtesy cars in the past and as I'm 6 foot 3 I found lack of headroom restrictive in front and impossible in back, visibility quiet bad allround but particularly so through the rear window and worst of all I always banged my head getting in and out.

My wife and I love the FL2 for its great visibility, solidity and comfort and its just about the right size for me too. Our other car is a Skoda Superb 4x4 L&K estate - supremely comfortable and extremely roomy inside and also feels planted on the road, same as the FL2 Current: FL2 64 plate Black SD4 Auto Metropolis

I have looked in vain for a replacement car for my Metro FL2, giving me the high comfortable driving position (and lately something with controls that do not require poking at a screen) and a good panoramic view.

In a recent post on this site, I described my driving position, in the new cars I tried, as like sitting in a post-box and peering out at the world through the posting slot.
It's not helped by the liking of the modern designers for black/dark interior roof linings.

Also the camera/sensor equipment is gradually spreading out from rear-view mirror into the driver's and front seat passenger's windscreen view.

The problem is that a RRS gets to be 7+ years old before it gets in my price range. That has a nice driving position and view.
