2 questions please-

What are the costs and how do you choose a good refurbisher?

Do they only powder finish, or are 'diamond cut' wheels also suitable to be brought back to 'new'?

I paid about £250 for a set of 5x 17"

I believe diamond cut are possible but likely expensive, when the diamond cut alloys on my Honda need doing, I'll be just powder coating them & losing the diamond cut Thumbs Up 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

I had been considering getting my standard 17” wheels refurbed - the cost was going to be £65 a wheel as I recall - but I ended up buying a set of unmarked 18” Disco Sport wheels on Gumtree, complete with decent tyres, for £220, i.e. less than the price of the refurb. And then I sold my original wheels and tyres for £100.

I'd like to do something like that myself, but as the wife's A5 has expensive 19" S Line wheels, it's cheaper to get the originals refurbished, than spend £600+ on a second hand set which would likely need refurbishment anyway. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Every rim in Australia kisses the kerb as we have 180mm high kerbs & sometimes a touch higher, then it is a door issue.

Since getting the 255mm tyres my rims have had no further kissing disease issues, but they all have a kerb patina from the 235mm tyres. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Just thought I would check back in with the forum regarding my wheels. I got them back last week and they are excellent. It's only now when I look at the refurbished ones that I see how bad condition the wheels were in.

I was also told last time I had tyres fitted that there was corrosion on the inside of the wheels that was only going to get worse so hopefully I have safeguarded myself for a few years to come.
