Freelander 2 '08 LED & AC Advice

Good morning everyone,

I have had my 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 for just less than a year and its my first toe in the water with a 4x4 and I love it.

A friend has just given me a set of these (https://www.ledperf.co.uk/led-light-bar-cree-double-row-36w-2600-lumens-for-4wd-atv-ssv-p-30302.html) along with a wiring harness. I would like to install them myself, I don’t know much about cars but I would like to use this an an opportunity to start to change that!

I was just wondering if anyone might be able to help me out as to where I would start and how I would install them?

Also I have just had my AC regassed and had freon leak from the bottom left of the grill. Just wondering if anyone knows of a known issue or what part would have given up on the bottom left? Long shot I know!

Many thanks in advance!

Nick

If you are leaking from the bottom left of the grill i would suspect the condensor as either failed or the pipe connections to it. Did the person doing the regas not run a pressure check first to make sure it wa suitable for refilling? Post some pics of your lights up and then people can advise from there.

Thank you for the quick response!

Ah roger, I will try and have a deeper look / or find a specialist. I would have thought they would have as it would seem pointless to have regassed with a leak. This could have been my first error, in trusting them.

I have attached a screenshot, just as he is going to post them to me so I haven't physically got them yet. But will post again when I do. Was just wondering if it is a big job?

It's not only pointless adding refrigerant to a leaking system, it's also illegal. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Where did you get your AC regassed? Surely they should have made sure that the system held pressure (so no leaks) before refilling it?

I got it regassed at an F1 Auto centre in Andover. Didn't know it was illegal but it makes sense for it to be.

For the lights is it a case of wiring them in to the main beam wiring?

It's illegal to knowingly or by lack of proper checks unknowingly discharge AC refrigerants into the atmosphere. The rules covering the use of R34a refrigerant are very strict.

Yes, you can take the relay coil supply off the main beam wires at the headlamp. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thank you, they do seem strict.

Brilliant, I feel like we are having the same conversation on two forums, so thank you very much for all your help!
