Hi all, purchased a high mileage fl2 a few months ago, sorted out a few issues with the help of this forum, still one or two to go. Have replaced most of the lubricants, just Haldex and PTU left. No indication of when the cambelt was changed so doing that and the auxiliary belt next week. Lovely car to drive, wish I hadn't waited this long to get one.

Mileage just hit 200k...

Hi Everyone
This is an amazing community.
I have just purchased a low km Freelander 2 and have made some minor fixes (new bonnet and rear gas lifts) and starting my Land Rover journey.

Hi All, what a great forum. Lurked for about 9 months now. Bought a FL2 last year and love it. My fifth LR. What a revelation off road, I’m shocked at how good it is. Car has no dramas which is a small revelation too… Very Happy

If anyone in the Newcastle or central coast area needs SDD or icarsoft diagnostics for LR’s just yell out. I also have diagnostics for VW/Audi, Peugeot Citroen and BMW as well… what can I say I have a car purchasing problem… 2013 MY13 FL2 SE SD4

Hi there!

Hi everybody!

I'm a new Freelander 2 owner, I6 Hse with an LPG Lovato installation.

It's my first Land Rover model, very smooth and confy!
I've got some little things to fix, but I'm pretty happy with it Wink

New Zealand

Greetings from New Zealand.

From what I have read on this site, and on other Land Rover sites, it seems that LR ownership is some sort of a disease.... and I think I might have caught it!

Just over a year ago I bought a 2007 Range Rover 4.2 SC. It performs well even though it's loud and has a drinking problem. But sometimes it feels too big to be a shopping trolley, so the obvious solution was to buy a baby Land Rover. And so here we are, with a Freelander.

It's a 2012 3.2 petrol, Ipanema Sand with 109,000km on the clock. Imported from Japan six years ago. No service history, but seems to be in okay condition - although there are a few issues to sort. The local mechanic changed the oil and filter reckons the other fluids look OK. But I will get them changed soon. I'm not sure that my local guy is that keen to do it - I might have to go to a Land Rover indie - but the nearest one is 4.5 hours away.

There is slight oil leak. About four drips on the garage floor over a period of four weeks, so hopefully nothing too expensive. The battery might need changing. And the tyres are cheapos - I might go with some Pirelli AT+ (got them on the Range Rover and love em).

So, I will continue to learn all about the Freelander on this excellent site, and undoubtedly I will be picking the brains of all you very generous contributors here.

Many thanks everybody.

Cheers.

I seem to have arrived here the long and possibly wrong way round.

I had an ’05 D3 for just short of five years when the crank abruptly snapped on 31st December. I rapidly replaced it with an ’09 L322 Range Rover, but that just didn’t fit what I need to do (far too smart an interior for stage lighting rigs to be thrown into). So today I bought a 2010 TD4 HSE. Smaller, but I’m now not living with the ever-impeding death by hidden rust or imploding turbo threats (L322) or exploding engine (D3-4). And it's *just* worn enough for me not to have to be overly precious about it.

I also own a 1981 109 RAF Ambulance and a 1989 military V8 110 - both sail through MOTs every year. The 110 will now have to deal with the larger and heaver loads as well as the more serious towing.

Hopefully I’ve now found the modern LR equivalent of a Series III petrol – it just goes and goes and goes.

Hopefully.

I've been following Christian and Vera for a long time now,
he's an amazingly skilled guy (along with their son Robin)
I posted the link on his theory of poor crankshaft production on the Jaguar xf forum,
worth catching up on some of their exploites and Alpien adventures. Thumbs Up DAVE.

I used to follow them avidly when I had a D3. When seriously considering getting a D4 I went back to their channel... and saw all their stuff about having to rebuild TDV6s. Erm...no. Not going there again, or even putting myself at that risk again.
