JLR's method of purging is to suck the fuel up from the tank and push it through the fuel filter and all the way up to the HP pump and back down to the tank using a rubber ball type hand pump. Its all in their manual.

I'm not sure what make it was tbf but I doubt it's genuine Land Rover as it was only about £20 and I imagine Genuine parts will be much more expensive. |

There have been various issues with non genuine fuel filters, genuine one's have a thermostat where as non genuine ones don't amongst other things. I would think it might be worth try with a genuine one?? 2013 FL2 XS.

When I use that method to purge the fuel I put the hand pump before the fuel filter. As I pump I initially hear air bubbling in the fuel tank, then that stops and the ball goes hard. Jules |

JLR manual says "injection pressures of up to 1800bar", (thats around 180,000 kpa - much more than you are registering.) Also on page 996 "The pump is capable of producing a maximum fuel pressure of 1,600 bar" You are not generating enough pressure. Are you sure the HP pump is working? I pulled off the motorway and stopped the engine. It wouldn't start again so had to be recovered. |

Have a look at the camshaft to hp fuel pump coupling. Early engines were prone to the camshaft failing at this point. That will give you low fuel rail pressures no matter how well you’ve bled the fuel lines! |
