Freelander 2 Not Starting in the morning

Hello all.

2007 Freelander 2 UK

When I press the start button it wont start and all the dash lights turn off It can take maybe 10 mins trying to start the FL until it does start.

It only does this in the morning and starts ok the rest of the day.

Any help would be great thanks.

Loads on this in the forum if you do a search. Sounds as if it’s the starter solenoid terminals. Could be the battery but unlikely as it starts after a fairly short length of time and batteries don’t just charge themselves.

Starter batteries have a life of about 4 years.

What voltage is the battery once charged but then left for at least a few hours, overnight better, for the battery voltage to stabilise. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Don't even get a turn from the starter motor everything just turns off.

New battery fitted and the FL2 lights on the dash go out, take the key out and put to back in and the dash lights up again, then press start and everything goes out again

Was thinking of the starter solenoid.

Thanks for the reply's everyone

Try tapping the solenoid/starter motor with a hammer. That might vibrate the contacts enough to allow them to work properly. It would also confirm that the starter motor/solenoid might be the problem.

Are you allowing the system check to complete before attempting to start the engine?

If so do the ignition lights go out instead of it cranking over? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

What I would try is a hard reset by removing both battery leads and short them together and wait 30 seconds, this fixed a none starting Ford Kuga with similar characteristics to yours, just advise really.
If you have a multimeter or test light check for supply at both starter main connections and smaller solenoid wire.
Plus another check is the cabling below the air box for damage which is quite a common problem.
Other than all these it could be an internal fault with the starter motor, or relay.
