Parking sensors

only had my 08 57plate one week and after a large down pour my reversing sensors would not work and had a continuious beep while in reverse or going forward, had to press the off button to stop the ringing in my ears.
Took two days of dry weather before they would work again properly.Took the car back to landrover In Barnstaple and was told that there was no fault shown on the ecu.with a lot of complaining to them they agreed to change the rear sensors, thought i was getting new ones fitted but turns out they only replaced them from another car they had in stock.
Well lets hope they will be ok,wont really know untill the next big down pour.In my opion if they would only have a little more communication with thier customers then things could be sorted out much faster with out the need to argue and stand up for what is right to get a fair deal.I was told that they just couldnt just spend landrovers money willy nilly but they wouldnt have too.customer care should be their main concern.
On a final note, there has been no mention of the large financial outlay on my part in the first place, funny that.

hi Superspark,

I hope that has sorted your problem, you are not the first person experience this problem (though I'm lucky that I haven't experienced it myself) but I had other problems to make up for it !!! You are so right with your comments about customer focus from Land Rover and its the dealer that is face of Land Rover as far as we (the paying customer are concerned). The quality of dealerships really does seem to vary, I wish LR would take more interest in what WE, the end user, think of the dealerships and that LR would then force the issue with the rogue dealers.

I'm coming to the end of my time with the FL2 and have thoroughly enjoyed the car (warts and all), the best car I've had in 35+ years of motoring. But my experience of dealing with the dealership has been one of the worst I've had, they really have a lot to learn from my experience. I wouldn't spend a penny of my own money with the dealership that has supplied and serviced my car. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013.

dont bank on them being fixed!

Heavy down pour last year and I had the same problem, a week later LR replaced the sensors and with a heavy downpour last weekend these new ones did exactly the same! Only seems to occur with heavy 'driving' rain. They were absolutely fine later in the day so must have dried out! My FL2 is parked on a very slight incline so its bum is in the air a little, whether this has anything to do with it I dont know but its only one slight niggle and i am prepared to live with it (provided we dont get 3 months of heavy driving rain that is!!!!) Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

..if the sensors have been replaced but the problem remains - then it seems like it's to do with the bumper, retaining water around the sensors ?

Get them to change the bumper, if the other "fixes" have not worked.........

I had the problem last week after I cleaned the car. I dried each of the faces of the sensors and the problem went away. I wonder if it might be a spot of water on the sensor giving a reflection or whatever. Ralph

IMO its down to water going down the back of the bumper, hitting the sensors and they soak up the water and short curcuit

Bad design and needs a overhaul Evil or Very Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

A big thank you to all those who have replied to me on the issue of parking sensors.Just a quick note to add on the subject, this is the first car i have ever had with this sort of problem, all the other cars have never had this problem no matter how wet, cold or covered in snow they got
It seems to me that landrover have a lot of research to do and "DO WRIGHT Thumbs Up " by their customers, who, after all, with out people like you and I they would be out of a job. Think on landrover, listen to the people who count the most !!! your customers.

hmmmm, this is the problem LR seem to struggle with the most and until they change their ways I think they will be finding their customers changing their LR's for other brands

My sensors are still playing up, despite being told LR are looking into a long term solution. Same problems as above - heavy rain and they don't work - really Censored annoying!! LR know it's a problem though. The vehicle on the LR experience did the same thing Shocked Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Heavy Rain Reverse Sensors

ME TOO! Heavy Downpour when in reverse, resulted in a solid beep tone. It was fine the next morning. I'm not going to bother trying to have it fixed, I'll just wait for the recall.
