2007 2.2d auto transmission oil. Is this the stuff?

I've read a few of the threads on auto oil changes, plus the manual. So I have concluded I have an aisin AWF21 transmission and need 9 to 10L of JWS3309 spec oil to do up to three fills.
Am I right so far?

I have found this on ebay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303081766587?mk...media=COPY
Looks good value, anyone see any problem with it before I buy?

btw. I am new here so Hi. I have just got a fairly high mileage (165k) 2007 auto so suspect I am going to be asking a few more questions as time goes by!

tia.
Toby

Hi Irman - welcome
"So I have concluded I have an aisin AWF21 transmission and need 9 to 10L of JWS3309 spec oil to do up to three fills."

Correct.

Mannol is a known brand. That is very cheap. I usually go to Smith & Allan but they are about 20% more than that price. Jules

Thanks. I will go with that then.

I did look at the Smith & Allan website but struggled to work out what I needed.
I am tempted to go with them for engine oil though, assuming their Momentum C1 F 5W-30 is what I am after. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

S&A do both JWS 3009 and JWS 3324 (for the later FL2s).
The engine oil spec depends whether you have a DPF or not.
All this info should be in your owners booklet. Jules

Depends on what method of fluid change you will use as to how much you will need. A full DIY flush requires a minimum of 12 to 15 litres

Yes, I think it was my searching skills that failed me Wink
Searching the S&A site for JWS3309 gets nothing. 3309 on its own gets what I want. But, like you said, the stuff from ebay is noticably cheaper.

Oil wise, again, it was just working out what what spec the various momentum oils were. Not helped by oil specs being confusing!
Mine is a 2007 (B in the VIN) so, if I understand correct, no DPF. The manual says ford WSS-M2C913B. Momentum FSX is WSS-M2C913D (backward compatible with C but no mention of B). Not obvious is C/D is just a better version of B? But cross referencing STJLR.03.5003 shows they are both compatible.
So Momentum FSX is what I want. At least I hope so as I bought some last night Smile
Interestingly it is free postage on ebay.

I think I am getting there, thanks for you help! FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

I read somewhere about a gorilla(?) method (or something relating to monkeys?) using some hoses to flush through the system? Is that what you mean by full flush?
I was planning the simple drain/fill times 3 method as it looks more fool proof and easier to do on my own.
If I am still getting bad fluid after 3 fills I might have to reconsider! (and buy some more oil.....) FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

I made a spreadsheet for dump/fill exchanges just to see how many were worth doing

You need to exchange 12L to remove approx 90% of the old ATF Jules

Essentially you use the autobox pump to pump out the old ATF via the cooler hoses and simultaneously add fresh ATF into the top of the autobox - a 2 man job really as it requires turning the engine on and off and monitoring the fluid coming out and going in.
Once set up it should be quicker and use less fresh ATF than the dump/fill method. But Ive not yet tried it. Job for next year probably. Jules

Thanks for that, and the spreadsheet.

Yes, my problem is the requirement for two people to do the flush. So I will stick with the dump/fill method although it is clear from your spreadsheet that it isn't ideal. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

It's The Modified Gibbons Method. Yes it takes two people but other than that it's so simple to do. The other person only has to switch on and off when told. I can't see the point in any other way but that's me

I don't suppose you have a link to the modified gibbons method?

My searching finds lots of mentions and partial methods but not the full method. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

Try a search under Volvo Auto box fluid change, same box as ours. There used to be a good you tube movie but it appears to have been now changed to private viewing

A few points
Check that you can undo the filler plug before you do anything
Use the lower fluid cooler to auto box pipe for the changes
Check you have the correct fluid for your box
There is no need to drain from the drain plug for the first change
Replace the fluid with 3 litres of fresh at each change
Four changes should be enough
Don't overtighten the pipe bolt it's steel and the auto box is ally
Purchase a new O ring for this pipe connection
Follow the standard fluid level check to finish
