I've read a few of the threads on auto oil changes, plus the manual. So I have concluded I have an aisin AWF21 transmission and need 9 to 10L of JWS3309 spec oil to do up to three fills.

S&A do both JWS 3009 and JWS 3324 (for the later FL2s).

Depends on what method of fluid change you will use as to how much you will need. A full DIY flush requires a minimum of 12 to 15 litres |

Yes, I think it was my searching skills that failed me Searching the S&A site for JWS3309 gets nothing. 3309 on its own gets what I want. But, like you said, the stuff from ebay is noticably cheaper. Oil wise, again, it was just working out what what spec the various momentum oils were. Not helped by oil specs being confusing! Mine is a 2007 (B in the VIN) so, if I understand correct, no DPF. The manual says ford WSS-M2C913B. Momentum FSX is WSS-M2C913D (backward compatible with C but no mention of B). Not obvious is C/D is just a better version of B? But cross referencing STJLR.03.5003 shows they are both compatible. So Momentum FSX is what I want. At least I hope so as I bought some last night Interestingly it is free postage on ebay. I think I am getting there, thanks for you help! FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue. |

I read somewhere about a gorilla(?) method (or something relating to monkeys?) using some hoses to flush through the system? Is that what you mean by full flush? I was planning the simple drain/fill times 3 method as it looks more fool proof and easier to do on my own. If I am still getting bad fluid after 3 fills I might have to reconsider! I made a spreadsheet for dump/fill exchanges just to see how many were worth doing

You need to exchange 12L to remove approx 90% of the old ATF Jules |

Essentially you use the autobox pump to pump out the old ATF via the cooler hoses and simultaneously add fresh ATF into the top of the autobox - a 2 man job really as it requires turning the engine on and off and monitoring the fluid coming out and going in. Once set up it should be quicker and use less fresh ATF than the dump/fill method. But Ive not yet tried it. Job for next year probably. Jules |

It's The Modified Gibbons Method. Yes it takes two people but other than that it's so simple to do. The other person only has to switch on and off when told. I can't see the point in any other way but that's me |

I don't suppose you have a link to the modified gibbons method?

Try a search under Volvo Auto box fluid change, same box as ours. There used to be a good you tube movie but it appears to have been now changed to private viewing
