There are two EGT sensors one as you have discovered and photographed pre DPF, the other is higher up pre cat just downstream of the O2 sensor. |

Yes the long unit with two metal pipes that go into the pressure differential sensor via rubber tubes is the DPF |

ok well i think ive sorted the issue now, when i checked the connector from the sensor to the harness had its snap together clip broken and so the connector could slide back and forth at will, obviously when the vehicle is in motion.

The connector for Sensor 2 the one nearest the DPF is a sod to get to. I had trouble and had to use a cable tie to hold the male and female together and one to hold it to the sub frame. If you have a decent code reader there is live data available to check.

well i do like to give feedback on any problems i encounter and rectify, you can guarantee any faults i get on any of my motors are never straight forward fixes, anyway this one seemed to a nice easy fix.

I have the LRV 3 Icarsoft code reader for the Freelander, seems a very code tool, however not much use if your battery is lest than 12 volts, it wont let you do the oil reset or do the DPF forced cleaner is the battery on the car is not a full capacity. I assume that's why my stop start has never worked on the Freelander since we bought, and it has never been a quick starter |

Sent mine back after 24hrs. Not nearly as capable as they make out. Tried on my early fl2, several data pids blank or show crazy numbers, or you get a 'function not supported'. Also tried on my 15 d4, even less functionality. No point in showing service functions that it doesnt actually do. |
