@ Tenet
The part number (LR032526) on the OP's invoice is for timing belt & pulleys only.

LR032527 is the kit with water pump. Jules

Quite correct Jules - I just googled the part number and all results showed "with pump". Well worth the mystery shopper approach though. Thumbs Up MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Indeed. My brother-in-law was a car dealer - unfortunately it made me forever suspicious of car dealers Laughing Jules

So have discussed the issue with the garage. They have apologised for the mistake and have offered to take the car back for a refund.

Not something I want to do so I think I’m going to have to take this one on the chin. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Apologises are worthless without action.

So they would rather loose a sale and severely annoy a customer than undertake some simple "bread and butter" servicing which they should have done anyway. Confused Jules

The issue I have is that the water pump is not a service item, nor was it due to be changed even if it was. My only argument is that I was told it was done and it was not. They have followed the rules and offered me a refund.

The question now is, do I get the pump changed at the 10 year service even though the belt won’t need done…. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Hello

I have been following this thread with interest. I believe your vehicle is a 2014 model the 10 year service would be next year, not sure how many miles per year you cover.

By not replacing the water pump during a timing belt change means if the pump fails at a later stage, the investment will be close to double. The labor involved in dissembling the engine to access these parts in particular is complicated and time-consuming, and can take from a few hours to a full day of work

Whenever a timing belt is detensioned and removed for whatever reason it is best practice in my opinion to replace it irrespective of how many miles it has covered since being fitted 12 months prior.

Yes, it is a 2014, registered September 2014.

I agree it is best practice, but isn’t specified in the service schedule and therefore there’s no technical reason why it *must* have been done when the belt was changed. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

You're quite right, it's best practice to replace the pump, but not essential.
It is however a pain if it subsequently leaks, which means the job needs to be done again.
It's not a difficult job to do DIY, and shouldn't take more than 3 hours, unless the crank pulley bolt won't come out, which can happen sometimes. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Not so long ago ( or was it) I remember the general recommendation for a water pump change was every second belt, the belts were changed at 60,000 miles. I wonder if a pump were to fail what would be the warning signs a leaky shaft seal, noise maybe. Personally I wouldn't risk it but there again I would do the work myself.

Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

I think you would struggle to find a professional workshop to replace the water pump without replacing the timing belt and offer any sort of warranty on their work.

Usually a pump will leak a bit before catastrophic failure. That's in general, no experience with the TD4.
