iPHONE

iPHONE will be fully compatible with our cars?
I'll like an elegant solution to adapt iphone to the car.
What you think?

Wait till the end of the year unless you want to visit the US, sign up (if your a US citizen) for a 2 year AT&T contract and then pay for very expensive roaming charges in Europe.... they won't accept any SIM other than an AT&T one that includes a data plan.

By the time it reaches Europe there will probably be more news on it and a European based provider.

Our American cousins may be able to test for you though assuming they bought one over the weekend (or today) and they have the same Bluetooth PTI that the UK spec Land Rover's do.
Very Happy

It would be nice to have the same systems on our cars.

There was a video on internet (link on RRSport) that showed it working in a RRS, which uses the same system as the D3. Like I said new Nokias don't work in Fl2 so why would iphone Mad D4 HSE Lux for me

The article basically says they developed the Personal Telephone Integration (PTI) System, an integrated automotive communications solution especially for Land Rover .

Nice of them to design a PTI that works with most Motorolas and not their latest phones

Somebody in that design team deserves to be given a long holiday at his/her local dole queue

I think that this kind of integrations between car and gadgets makes the differences. In particular with iPOD/iPHONE, that are blockbusters.

That's the Nokia one which is fitted to the D3 and RRS; the one fitted to the FL2 is made by a division of Continental.. a division that used to be part of Motorola. So, basically, the FL2 module was developed by Motorola, so it's not surprising it enjoys best compatability with Moto phones.

I understand that the Moto system is actually considerably better than the Nokia system, though that's cold comfort if you can't get your phone connected in the first place. Unfortunately, Bluetooth seems to be another one of those "standards" that every phone manufacturer has its own version(s) of.

You disagree? There are plenty of phones that the Nokia PTI kit won't talk to either, but compare the Nokia PTI with the Moto PTI coupled with a phone they'll both function with (my wife's Nokia 6230 for example) and the Moto PTI module gives you much more than the Nokia one.

Why bother with an iPhone Question Question

Agree the GUI is great as are the ergos - but no 3G = v.slow connection speeds = not good enough.
