Of course we might not get the -7C temps again any time soon to find out if the new plugs cured the problem! |

I have had several FL2’s over the last 12 years and all the early ones were difficult to start in extreme cold. I currently have a 2013 SD4 which starts first turn even at -10c. I am not sure if Land Rover changed something on the later models but cold starting doesn’t appear to be a problem. Heated steering wheel is also amazing. Not something I thought I needed or wanted but I will miss it if my next vehicle doesn’t have one. |

My Sd4 has been rough as old boots starting in the mornings recently, agree about heated steering wheel. |

I have a 2010 HSE. No heated steering wheel, have the heated seats.

If you do a search on this site, you should find a thread where someone did this. I recall it sounding fairly complicated! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

It requires the clock spring with the high current tracks from the 2012 onwards Freelander 2. The problem is the steering column was changed, so the later clock spring doesn't fit the early car, which makes the conversion difficult or impossible. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. I also have been lucky with starting, first time - every time. Although it went a little funny when I tried Nodge's method of pausing then pressing brake to allow electronics to ramp up. Admittedly it was after the car had been standing for some 48 hrs in sub zero temperatures, but it seemed to ignore any attempt to run glow plugs and did successive attempts at starting automatically before starting and running smoothly on 4th. Also will admit to now putting heated steering wheel high on my list of necessary car options. Thought the heated steering wheel was a bit of an overkill until I finished a days fishing last week... Then Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh nice.😁 If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
