What did we do before YouTube

Had to change the fuse behind the glove box today.
Quick look on YouTube first to see what was involved, didn't look too difficult so got on with it.
All going well until trying to get the damper off, back on to YouTube sure enough small video on how to disconnect without breaking.
Fues out, broken, replaced with new fuse, cigarette lighter now working.
Back to, "Living the Dream".

There used to be a magazine ( can't remember the name of it now) you could write to for answers but that was in the Victorian era. If you were lucky the question with it's answer would be in the following weeks edition.

I noticed your damper is the grey newer model but mine was the black one which I had to replace. The black model had much more "resistance" (dampening effect) in my opinion but was no longer available when I went shopping for one. BTW, perfect time to re and re the cabin filter.

In the Cenozoic period my car had 7 fuses.

Tip: Putting glove box back in.

Put the bottom hinge on the opposite side of the glovebox damper in first.

The hinge on the side of the damper, get it in the position to put it in the hinge socket, but don't quite push it in yet.

Drop that side of the glovebox a touch so you can reach over the top & then push the damper pin in the hole.

If you put the damper side hinge in then try to put the damper pin in, the gap over the top of the glove box is too small, unless you have child labour. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Yeah Haynes here in the US.

As a DIY hobbyist, I have a threshold of pain after which the vehicle goes to the shop. Youtube and the interwebs in general have raised that threshold for sure.

Very disappointed in the Haynes manual for the last versions of the Freelander lot of useless filler and lacking detail when you need it most.
Wrapped a bit of foil from a cigarette packet round a fues once of the way down to Devon when the windscreen wipers packed up.
