We used to use it as a reagent in a laboratory analysis. It came in 500ml plastic bottles and we’d want maybe 10 or 20ml. Always checked that gloves didn’t have a leak before and after handling it and wash both gloves and hands afterwards. There wasn’t a lot that I liked using less than Hydrofluoric acid except perhaps cyanide!

Real_Beale,

You might be on to something here

--- Gasoline (Petrol) Auto Ignition Temperature is about 250 C

--- Diesel Auto Ignition Temperature is about 210 C

I know that you have been having a heat wave in the UK but I completely underestimated the extent of the warming.

Share this with your friends and family that they should be petrol powered if they are going outside at temperatures above 200 C

That's a great safety tip.

Top Gear tried to warn us but no one listened

Not to mention the brave boys n girls who deal with the actual "emergency". No lab conditions for them, or adequate time in certain circumstances to perform a detailed risk assessment. Hydrofluoric acid, airbags, seat belt pensioners to name but a few.......
