Are you thinking of the oval oil pump filter, Don't think they are ever serviced or are they. What problem are you having

Again referring to LRI mag members of Muddy Mods fit an aftermarket item to replace crankcase breather filter. Apparently it gets overlooked and gets blocked up. |

Again looking on youtube it shows this mod. On the beavis pits one it shows it fitted and the results. |

You're referring to the Freelander 1 TD4 with the BMW sourced M47R engine. I believe Beavis fits a crankcase oil catch can, which isn't really necessary or beneficial to the engine, as it prevents useful lubrication of the intake valves and upper cylinder walls.  Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I just thought I'd add a bit more to this post, as Beavis mentioned this on his latest video, and totally took what I said out of context, dispite actually posting the exact text I used. He seemed to believe that I was saying that the engine would seize if there was no oil mist from the breather going down the intake, which of course isn't correct or what I said. My comment was simply a suggestion that on an older higher milage diesel, a bit of extra oil is a benefit for upper cylinder and intake valve lubrication, it's not essential to prevent it from seizing. He also said that if I was correct, a new engine would seize in a few miles as a new engine has no blow-by, which itself is actually incorrect. All engines suffer blow-by, especially new engines where the rings haven't bedded in properly, so this statement is misleading. I'm not wanting to belittle his YouTube work, but if anyone on here watches the video, just disregard what he's implying I said on the subject, because he's taken what I said completely out of context. Here's why I made the suggestion in the first place. I having spent many years working for PSA as a maintenance technician, this issue was a topic of discussion in the Crib room one morning. The workshop foreman who was a time served diesel specialist suggested that a bit of extra oil in the intake of a hard working diesel is beneficial as the miles pile on, simply because the oil helps take up some of the space where metal had been removed due to wear. This could help lengthen the life of the upper cylinder components, which is a good thing surely. No I'm not saying that my foreman was 100% correct on this, but he did know what he was talking about when it came to diesel engines. So now you know. Cheers Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate.
