Have you had a new filter recently? was it properly bled?

I think the only way it could be draining back is because you have an air leak. The fuel line is under negative pressure as the fuel is sucked up from the tank and through the filter by the low pressure/high pressure pump mounted on the end of the camshaft. page 1549 in freebee JLR workshop manual If you use an in-line hand pump to prime, it will suck up tank fuel and push it through the filter, up to the LP/HP pump , through the fuel rail, injectors and back to the tank. When you do this you can see bubbles at the filter outlet pipe and hear bubbles in the fuel tank. When you've bled it fully the rubber hand pump bulb feels firm and the bubbles in the hose and tank cannot be seen and heard, respectively. Insert hand pump at #7 Jules |
