Light Knocking sound over small bumps - please help

Hi,
I just bought a dealer demo Freelander 2 with some 30K KM on it. I have a faint knocking sound coming from what it appears the front of the car when going over small bumps. like a suspension problem..
Any ideas ?

Thanks
Anthony

This could be a dry joint, try lubing the roll bar rubbers etc

i get the feeling that my car is a test case for my dealers warranty repair

I believe they have installed a direct line straight to LR customer Warranty just for me Rolling Eyes

alas that why i am not sure whether I will be getting another FL2 or even another Land Rover TBH Crying or Very sad

Though I had a little up beat thought about getting another FL2 (auto this time round) when my boss brought in a Ford Kuga brochure for me to look at Shocked Instantly said No Exclamation to that one, and went to my car and handed him the Audi Q5 and Q7 brochure Whistle Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

There is a redesigned rubber mount or bung of some sort which is supposed to address some suspension noise. Not sure if it's front, rear or both. Might be worth mentioning to the dealers.
I'm not happy with the noise level from my suspension right now. The rear seems knocky and the front can make some almighty clunks over speed bumps. The dealer said they couldn't see anything amiss with the front. They tightened up something at the back but I haven't notice much difference.
What's everyone's opinion of the noise of FL2 suspension? Am I expecting too much??

The noise over speed bumps only happens on mine with an open throttle. Coasting over them makes no noise at all, deliberately accelerating off the top of them makes the most noise, I just live with it.
it's still the best tow-car I've ever used and a fine motorway cruiser. I'll probably replace mine with the same again possibly an auto

I don't know what the suspension set is on the FL2, but it could be anti-roll bars links. Just done this on my old ford focus. Easy job and parts might be cheaper on e-bay that the LR dealer?? Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

Spending a lot of time driving (crawling) in London, I have to navigate speed bumps all the time.
Anything over 20 mph and the noise is just like dropping off a kerb. I was quite alarmed when it first happened but have now got used to it.

As Tandee says, nice and easy or you have to accept the bangs. FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

Exactly the same for me... glad in a way that i'm not the only one with this problem - however for me it always seems to be the front right that 'BANGS' when going over speed bump at what i consider normal speed. Previous cars, including mini cooper and Astra Coupe had no trouble navigating the same bumps at the same speed. Sad

I was going to take it to the dealer when i got a moment and have them check it out, but it seems a common issue... What is it that generates the "bang" - the suspension bottoming out Question

I suspect it is some part of the suspension topping out as it is a similar noise and feel axle tramp.

It's the opposite for me. This is the noisiest car I've owned over speed bumps which is surprising since previous cars weren't 4x4s. It definitely sounds like the suspension hits the extent on the backside of a speed bump, maybe the damping on release is insufficient since it doesn't 'bottom out' on the front side of a speed bump Confused
