Haldex pump

Hi,
I noticed my Freelander front wheels spun on some wet grass when manoeuvring the other day. So I'm assuming the 4 wheel drive is not working.
After doing some checks I think the fault is with the Haldex. Does anyone know if the Haldex pump should be running all the time the ignition on/engine is running? because I notice with the ignition on, the pump is not running. If I put a 12v feed to the pump I can hear it running, so I'm assuming its ok. I also checked the feed into the Haldex control unit and it has a good 12v and good earth, so I'm assuming its a problem with the Haldex ECU, or have I missed something.

It's probably only a blocked filter screen on the haldex pump. Has the oil and filter been changed recently?
I've had this issue on Freelander and a VW Tiguan. Take pump out , clean screen, new oil and filter and 4x4 restored. On the Freelander I gad a gearbox fault warning and the terrain response didn't work. The VW had no fault light at all, just an ability to spin the front wheels.

I think the pump is ok because when I connect 12v I can hear the pump working.
What I am trying to find out is does the pump run all the time, because I think my problem is the haldex ECU and before I commit to spending money on it, I just wanted to make sure I have done all the correct checks.

Forgot to add no lights or warning messages on dash, and no faults on scanner tool

I am fairly sure the pump should run with the ignition on you should be able to hear it. 2013 FL2 XS.

If there's no message on the dash saying the terrain response isn't working, then the Haldex is fine.
No drive with no messages suggests the PTU splines have failed. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I took mine to Bell recently - re horrid noise up front, no 4WD - thought to be a PTU issue. No alarms showing.

Turned out that the haldex pump was dead (internal short), the PTU was fine and the noise was from NS front wheel bearing.

So it seems that the haldex pump can fail without any alerts showing. Jules

You can't test the Haldex is working by lifting a rear wheel and turning it, as it's an on demand coupling. With the vehicle stationery, there's no demand for AWD, so no coupling between the front and rear should be taking place, which means the lifted rear wheel will just rotate when turned. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. Well I tried this a few days ago with the engine running lifted rear wheel is locked, engine off rotates freely, 4wd is activated when moving off then goes to 2wd unless loss of traction is detected on front wheels, so will be in when engine running. 2013 FL2 XS.
