Scotland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

yeh Iv done it, not quite exactly the same colour - seems to be slightly darker than the original but Id rather have darks dots than white undercoat showing.

I got mine from my local dealer they cost around £6 i think.

to be honest I don't think the paint work on the land rover is very good, my last car was a 15 year old vauxhall corsa which had less chips in it than the freelander has got within only a year! I always keep my distance from the car in front at between 50 to 100 meters but this doesn't seem to make any difference. www.222photography.co.uk

I have to agree with 222 regarding the paint hardness. I must have put at least 15 protective coats of wax on over the last 12 months, but there are quite a few chips all over the bonnet and wings and the white undercoat is showing through.

37,000 miles on now and I would expect some chips. I am sure that the undercoat is applied before the final colours are decided, but why a white undercoat on a black car? FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

Have a look at www.paints4u.co.uk. They do a full range of chip repair kits and paints.

Used them for some Baltic Blue which they found and delivered quickly.

i touched up a couple of my larger ones

Clean the area and chip with IPA, then put in the colour, trying to keep the paint within the chip, I used a bent out paper clip and/or a tiny artist brush, then build up the chip using the clear lacquer

There a quite a few guides over on detailingworld about stonechips etc so it might be worth a read, it where i got the above process from

My dealer gave me a bottle of paint and lacquer, so i can't say how much they are

I sure either of the site sponsors would sort you a good price out for a OEM kit Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The EU banned all sorts of chemicals, lead etc which used to go into paint over the last decade or two that provided durability. Ever since then paint has mainly been crap, whatever car you drive. 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Mine and my dogs Storm and Sky

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Thanks Guys,

A couple of good ideas to follow up there. Shame of it is that I have one realy bad area of damage in the centre of the passenger door. This damage was done when the car was 2 weeks old but I've never had it fixed, I'm only thinking about it now because I don't want to be stung for any charges when the car goes back in a few weeks time. I'm sure I wont be able to do a perfect job, but hopefully I can make it look good enough not to arouse too much attention when the car is picked up from me (got to hope its a rainy day !!!) Stornoway Grey GS ... That is why Land Rover Experience use silver vehicles. i.e. because they don't show the scratches as easily.

Your right - I guess they must have stolen it from the Land Rover G4 project especially for me to use for one day only and have now given it back as they must only have silver cars. Rolling Eyes

Give Colin a call at Eastwell manor LRE and if your very good he may let you have a go in it - Or you could drive something in a plain silver wrapper Laughing

By the way, they also had an unsigned blue FL2. FL2 TD4 XS Santorini
