Jack and Tool Box

Hello all,

My new old FL2 has no jack nor holding toolbox, anyone knows where I can get a set at a reasonable price, or am I looking for the best part of £80 for the jake along?

Just buy a scissor jack off ebay around £20 hasn’t got to be a genuine LR jack.

land Rovers are a long way off the floor compared to saloon cars, so the LR jack tends to lift higher - made that mistake.
Buy cheap buy twice. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

The Discovery 2 bottle jack was a decent bit of kit and compact too. I'd look out for one of those and an extending wheel brace. Plenty of space in the Freelander wheel well for them. 👍 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The Land Rover jack will fit next to the spare wheel, so you can install a compressor under the spare wheel.

Extending wheel brace check! Just thinking I'm going to spend some time on eBay!

Or a 2' breaker bar and 21mm socket, potentially more useful. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I use a T-handle, 21mm socket & extension. One needs to have tools a 1000km from help.

I have 2 more compressors under the seat. Wifey likes cleaning the car so that make the setup good value!

An air compressor & vacuum cleaning the inside the car works well. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

@Lightwater
I've watched your DIY with great admiration.
One question has always persisted in my mind - why choose a FL2 for doing what you do. Would not a more traditional Ute have made a better base vehicle for your additions ?
No criticism intended, just curious. Jules

We would have to saw our legs off to sleep in the back of a ute. We push & tilt the seats forward & with a well packed & organised Freelander there is plenty of room.

Living in the city parking is an issue. Garage is too short, too low for a lot of cars & we wanted a petrol engine.

Every person I have given a lift in the Freelander is blown away with quality of the ride.

So in our case it is "ride & less ammo"

One of the main reasons there are so many utes down under is there are tax benefits of a "commercial" vehicle which Land Rover or equivalent doesn't have. It's ridiculous. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Ride is a biggy

All the SUV's in Aus are based on the Dual cab utes which dont ride very well But everyone has to have one so the prices are ridiculous

Shocked
