Took the freelander to the garage this morning as had a knock/rattle at front nearside. Turns out it’s a broken coil spring, so left it to be fixed. Only done 1400 miles in it so far, bit of a bummer. |

Collected the freelander, new front coils and drop arm’s done. Hope no more unexpected things for a little while |

At 54 years of age, have taken my car to a garage for repair for the first time in my life! I have a whine on over run. Bell advised it is the transfer box. Due to my personal circumstances ( car presently in the UK and all my tools in France), and due to Bell being so busy, it's going to Simon Services just outside Wakefield. Again due to personal circumstances I will not be collecting the car for a couple of weeks, but will post when I get it back. |

Yesterday, I swapped out my cabin filter for a new one and also changed my rear diff oil. Happy to report that the rebuilt diff I got from freelanderspecialist.com is running well to date. About 20,000+ kms on it from the re & re. One previous oil change after the re & re about 4000kms that did have some shavings. The magnet was clean this time. I used Amsoil 75W90 Severe Gear with 50 grams of Liqui Moly MOS2 for diffs. I also put the plug back in before the oil stops running out, but that's a personal choice LR bulletin be damned. |

Did you put new springs on it while you were stripped down? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I put Billies on all four a year+ ago, had a rear shock start to leak after driving over a partially down tree during a really bad storm one very early morning. I had to go check online a few minutes ago, my replacement models are the B4s and they list them as straight up OEM replacements here in Canada for my year class. Good shocks and my springs were in pretty good shape. |

Yes B4 Bilstein are good. As I run 19 inches rims, I would prefer something softer in the rear. may be a mix Bistein B4 front and KYB Excel G in the rear can be a good deal. |
